New winds can be felt in the West Harbour. The West Harbour on the Jätkäsaari island in Helsinki was long home to sailors, cargo ships, and hard work. Today, a combination of outstanding flavours, an exciting atmosphere and successful culinary encounters is sweeping over the old harbour like a gust of warm wind from the west. The wind is called Marcus Samuelsson, a world-renowned chef from Sweden, currently residing on another island – Manhattan.
The shelves of a red brick warehouse in the harbour were once filled with coffee, wine, and rum. Today, the ingredients are assembled on plates instead. First though, the ingredients are refined and combined with the multicultural flavours brought by Marcus from Manhattan. This is where locally produced ingredients meet the best of Manhattan.
